Internationalisation

Internationalisation is the process by which software, websites, products, packaging and other documents are designed or architected such that they become "language agnostic". Internationalisation is a technical process of adapting software or a website so that it can be more effectively localised.

Transware has significant internationalisation experience, having delivered results for companies like Lotus Development, Symantec, FileNet, Interwoven and Corel. Transware can provide best-practice consulting services to our clients' engineers or undertake the internationalisation process for them and contribute at all stages of the product lifecycle.

Internationalisation includes:

  • Displaying and taking input in languages other than English
  • Dealing with and performing numerical calculations on different data and currency formats
  • Ability to accept many thousands of characters that exist in Asian languages - double byte enablement
  • Ability to accept text expansion in all text fields, e.g., Alt (Tip) text in Software
  • Handle extended character input into Databases
  • Access to script text, e.g., user error message script
  • Separation of the text and source code
  • Elimination of concatenated strings
  • Ensuring all tools used in development are internationalised
